Linking Italian Interiors to the Italian Countryside

Italian interiors have never been more popular and bringing the colours of the Italian countryside into your home is a beautiful way of making those interiors more harmonious and authentic as a result.

Being an ecological garden designer, working in Tuscany it is my task to transform the area outside the Italian villa or farmhouse by establishing characteristic colour schemes that pick up on Italian nuances. I concentrate on creating harmony between the house and the surrounding countryside but my clients often draw a blank when looking for symbolic, Italian interior colour schemes for their Italian house. Finding large images that pick up on the nuances of the Italian countryside has always proven to be difficult.

However, a new style of abstract, macro photography has established a bridge between the Italian interior and the garden/landscape surrounding the house. Macro (close up) images of Italian plants, flowers and fruits can now be blown up into very large prints to capture the real essence and beauty of Italian nature. This style of abstract photography produces images that more closely resemble abstract paintings than standard photographs and enable both the interior and garden designer to find every colour from nature's vast colour palette between them. It is now possible to capture the softest shade of cream, warm ochres, vibrant pinks to the most exciting and dazzling hot colour tones, from reds, oranges to electric yellows- and all completely naturally!

These effects are achieved without the need for artificial enhancement, such as photoshop, and can therefore be considered unadulterated images of the Italian countryside. As an ecological landscape designer this offers me a wonderful and exciting opportunity to harmonise and link the ecological garden with the ecological interior and all totally naturally! A conservatory, orangery or dining room can be transformed by establishing this kind of colour link between the interior and exterior of the Italian house and I am personally finding the whole concept very exciting and totally applicable- Great news for homebuyers!
